While filming the famous Vogue 73 questions interview, Kim Kardashian gave us a house tour of her luxury home in Hidden Hills, California, where she lives with her husband Kanye West and their children. The video was very fun and everything but there was one thing that almost every viewer was left confused with: How do their sinks work?
You can look up the video on Vogue’s YouTube channel and see for yourself. The format of the video is that it is shot in one take with the interviewer arriving at the celebrities home and recording the interview while they walk around their houses. In this case, Kanye opened the door but then Kim took over.

The interview was going smoothly with her leading the interview into their bedroom where Kanye was playing with their kids. She described their fabulous home as ‘minimal monastery’. Then came a lot of questions to do with their kids and parenting, and she claims that her answer for good parenting is that you have to wing it. She also said that her and her sisters have a group chat where they share parenting advice.
After this section of the interview, they move on to take a look around the house, which lead them into the huge bathroom. And that was the moment everyone was introduced to the infamous sinks. The thing that confused the fans was the fact that the sinks looked like they had a flat surface underneath them and no place for the water to drain.
The intervieweer wasn’t as intrigued by this and he just turns around and continues asking questions.
As soon as the video was published many people wanted answers. One person on Twitter wrote: “Can someone PLEASE explain the sinks at Kim & Kayne’s house.” Then theories were constructed: “the dark spots are the drain. the sinks are slightly concave down to the drain. hard to see in this pic, look at one farthest away.”
Luckily, Kim Kardashian came to the rescue and gave us the answer we needed when she posted a video on her Instagram story. She gave us a more detailed tour of the bathroom and showed how those sinks actually work. Finally, we knew!
In the video she posted she confirmed that one fan’s theory was right and that there was a tiny drain: “Okay, so since everyone’s a little bit confused about our sinks, I thought I would just show you guys a little tour of our bathroom.” Some people saw the drain but others really needed this video with them pointed out.
She also showed their massive bathtub, shower, their patio that is outside of the bathroom and of course the sinks that caused so many questions and confusion.
Kardashian also shared that the sinks were designed by Kanye in collaboratio with other designers and they had eight different versions before they came to the finished product they have now. Each sink has two faucets and tiny drains. She showed how they worked and pointed out that there is a slight slope and let the water run to prove it to the viewers that they do indeed work and don’t flood the whole house. You can adjust the pressure and the water doesn’t splash around at all.
