Prince Harry for sure did some things in his youth that are disappointing to a parent, but Prince Charles was apparently bummed even before that.
Andrew Morton, a royal biographer and author of Diana: Her True Story said that Diana confided to her close friend James Colthurst and told her how Charles was clearly disappointed by Harry’s arrival. The reason for that is that Charles really wanted to have a daughter.

Diana previously claimed that she knew she was having a boy (she later revealed that she saw the ultrasound) and she didn’t share that knowledge with Charles since she knew he really wanted their second child to be a girl.
Princess Diana put Prince Charles in his place when he made his disappointment clear. The first thing he said was “Oh God, it’s a boy” and “He is even got red hair”. She then said, “You should realize how lucky you are to have a child that is normal.”
That incident apparently caused a big rift between them.
“Ever since that day the shutters have come down, and that’s what he does when he gets somebody answering back at him,” she added.”
