7 Celebrities That Made Millions From Bitcoin

by Petar Mikonoss March 2, 2020
by Petar Mikonoss March 2, 2020

We’re 2022 and everyone knows about Bitcoin, even celebrities. It was not long before people sold their homes and businesses to buy the cryptocurrency with hopes of getting richer.

The rise and fall, and rise again, of Bitcoin aren’t anything unusual. Just a few years ago the cryptocurrency reached a price of ~$20,000 per coin, which ultimately threw even the biggest skeptics into investors.

However, the time for joy was very short, as the price quickly plummeted back to $6,000. It was chaos, anarchy, and it every man for himself. No, wait, that’s the “Walking Dead” on AMC.

Skeptics resisted investing in Bitcoin before its meteoric rise, and even resisted up until the big media outlets such as CNN and Fox started talking about it.

But it was too late at that point. Bitcoin was enjoying a lucrative price of $20,000 and those that had owned the currency could make a hefty return on their investment; a 20:1 return on their investment.

But celebrities were also hot on its heels. Namely, some celebrities loved trading Bitcoin and other currencies, and they even made millions by investing.

In this article, we are going to take a look at some of the celebrities that made millions from Bitcoin.

Contents

  • 1. Ashton Kutcher
  • 2. Bill Gates
  • 3. NAS
  • 4. Mike Tyson
  • 5. Gwyneth Paltrow
  • 6. Floyd Mayweather Jr.
  • 7. DJ Khaled

1. Ashton Kutcher

Mr. Kutcher is a loud supporter of the blockchain and all of its uses and applications, as well as, it’s giant potential to change our world. A humanitarian by nature, Ashton Kutcher was very fond of the cryptocurrency world.

So much that he decided to invest some of his fortunes. Although it’s disclosed as to how much Bitcoin he owns, what he doesn’t disclose is his investment fund A-Grade Investments.

This fund finances one of the cryptocurrency’s biggest payment methods called BitPay. BitPay is a service that allows you to accept Bitcoin as a form of payment. It’s global, eliminates fraud, and has only but a 1% fee system.

Furthermore, this service is used by some giant players in various industries such as Microsoft, Shopify, Fancy, airBaltic, Newegg, and Neteller.

2. Bill Gates

Mr. Gates seems to always find a way to appear in an article here and there. But unlike others, Mr. Gates appears for mostly positive and friendly topics.

If you’re a crypto enthusiast, then you should have definitely heard what Mr. Gates had to say about it back in 2014. As a stout supporter for the tech, Mr. Gates has talked extensively about how exciting investing in Bitcoin is.

Back in 2014, in an interview for Bloomberg, Mr. Gates said that you don’t need to physically own it to see its potential. By some estimates, it is said that Mr. Gates owns anything between 10,000 and 100,000 Bitcoin’s.

3. NAS

If you’ve ever listened to old-school hip-hop, then you know who NAS is.

The American rapper and artist has been one of the industry’s biggest supporters, with confirmed reports saying that he owns more than $25 million worth of crypto.

Most of his investing has been on one of the industry’s biggest trading platform, Coinbase, and the rapper has even backed more than 600 blockchain-based startups.

He is well known even amongst those at Silicon Valley, with NAS even investing in more than 40 different startup ventures. In an interview in 2014, NAS was quoted saying that Bitcoin is the future. Also, he’s talked extensively about how he is planning on investing even more in the industry.

Investing in cryptocurrencies isn’t only about buying Bitcoin. There are thousands of other crypto’s that each and every single one of them offers different technology. Also, not every currency is as expensive as Bitcoin, so we suggest you read this article from Binaryx to see what other options you have for investing in terms of crypto.

4. Mike Tyson

The celebrity renowned boxer Mike Tyson always finds a way to invest into something unique and fun.

We’ve heard reports about his cannabis hotel and other wacky ideas.

But Mike Tyson has also launched his very own ATM that lets you exchange any fiat currency into Bitcoin; all that in under 20 seconds. His product was an instant success and the first ATMs were placed all over Las Vegas.

But the superstar celebrity didn’t stop there; he continued exploring other ventures. One such exploration was a digital wallet for storing cryptocurrencies called “The Mike Tyson Digital Wallet”. The wallet was created along with Bitcoin Direct, and has partnered with; you guessed it, Ashton Kutcher’s BitPay.

5. Gwyneth Paltrow

The most influential women in the world, Gwyneth Paltrow seems to be one of the earliest supporters of cryptocurrencies.

Her business, Goop, was talking about crypto’s back in 2009 when Bitcoin first started to pick up noise. Back then, a single coin was worth nothing but three cents. Yes, three god-damn cents!

She used to promote the currency on her personal Twitter profile, and shared with her audience a well-written article on goop.com that dated back to 2008!

With such knowledge and attention to even listen about it back in 2008, we’re pretty sure that Gwyneth owns thousands of currencies and made millions.

6. Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Not every celebrity has made a huge fortune from investing cryptos. Floyd Mayweather Jr. has always been in around the investment industry. Seeing as he was one of the highest-paid athletes in the world, Mayweather decided to invest his fortune into the crypto world.

He even personally invested in a couple of ICOs (Initial Coin Offerings) but had lots of problems with regulating bodies. It was determined that he failed to promote a couple of his investments, and was charged with a $300,000 fine as a subsequent result.

However, we’re pretty sure the fine hasn’t bothered Mayweather too much, as he’s probably made millions in return.

7. DJ Khaled

Yet another celebrity that doesn’t have had a similar fate as Mayweather, DJ Khaled has reportedly been fined $100,000 for promoting an ICO on his social media.

But DJ Khaled has also invested quite a lot into it. By some estimates, it is reported that DJ Khaled owns 1000 Bitcoin.
