Elizabeth II’s Christmas Brooch and Its Meaning

Queen Elizabeth II has made dozens of public trips and appearances in 2018. She has travelled all over the globe in state visits and humanitarian missions. During all these travels, she has meticulous and very fabulous clothes that was designed particularly for her. The end of 2018 saw her in a stunning designer dress; however, that was not the most interesting thing. Journalists and other people have noticed that there is one detail that the Queen has worn on dozens of public appearances, occasions and visits and its her brooch.

Where Did It Came From

We have all noticed that she has worn it more often than any other accessory. How did she get it? Well, she got it in 1966 as a gift from her husband, the Duke of Edinburgh. Philip. The brooch was created by Andrew Grima who was a British designed who carved ruby along with gold and a diamond piece to make this brooch. So it was no surprise that she chose this brooch for her Christmas message to the nation since she wanted to strengthen the importance of love, family, faith and tradition. The brooch has such a meaning to her.

Bournemouth Town Hall

The first time she wore it was in 1966, when she got it, on the 15th July. She was with the Duke of Edinburgh at Bournemouth Town Hall.

 

Falmouth, Cornwall

On the 1st May 2002, she wore it here at the Golden Jubilee Tour.

 

The University of Cambridge

She had it on her dress here at the 2nd February 2007 when she attended the opening of the Cambridge Cancer Research Institute.

 

Lichfield, England

On the 12th October 2007 during the dedication ceremony that was organized for National Armed Forces Memorial.

 

Buckingham Palace

During the Christmas Ceremony in her residence in London on the 23rd December 2007.

 

Slovenia

During her official visit to this country on the 22nd October 2008.

 

Innsworth, Gloucestershire

On the 5th November 2015 she matched this brooch with her pink outfit when she visited Ministry of Defense’s staff.

 

Queen’s Diamond Jubilee

She had her jubilee on the 8th June in 2018, and she wore the brooch then. She again combined it with her pink outfit.
