The feud between Kate Middleton and Rose Hanbury and the alleged affair between Prince William and Hanbury have put a negative light on the former model. Hanbury has been the center of attention ever since the feud rumors started.
The Daily Beast was amongst first to report about the feud, stating how Kate demanded William to ‘’phase out’’ Hanbury family from their group of friends, “known colloquially as the Turnip Toffs due to their vast holdings of arable farmland.’’
The Cut stated, “As they do, the British tabloids have recently been fixated on rumors of an alleged royal-related feud — this time, between Kate Middleton and her ‘rural rival’ Rose Hanbury, the Marchioness of Cholmondeley.”
ELLE reported, “The Duchess of Cambridge is said to have seriously considered legal action over a story The Sun ran about her having a falling out with her “rural rival” and Norfolk neighbor, Rose Hanbury, the Marchioness of Cholmondeley.”
With all this, what do we actually know about Rose Hanbury?
Who is she?
Rose is the Marchioness of Cholmondeley. A marchioness is the wife of a marquess. A marquees is one rank above an earl, but one below a duke in the British nobleman society. Rose Hanbury is 33 years old, and she is married to David Rocksavage, who is 58. Rocksavage is the 7th Marquees of Cholmondeley. The Tatler reported on their relationship, “They first met on holiday in Italy in 2003, and announced their engagement six years later, a day before getting married.”
When Hanbury was 23 years old she signed a contract with Storm Agency, a modeling agency who discovered Kate Moss. She became known to the public when a picture of her and her older sister appeared in the British tabloids, when they were alongside Prime Minister Tony Blair, at the time. David Rocksavage is a filmmaker.
Hanbury and Middleton
Both Rose and Kate have three children. Kate has Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. Rose is the mother of twin boys, Alexander, Earl of Rocksavage and Oliver, Lord Cholmondeley, and a daughter, Lady Iris. Both Rose and Kate have a Norfolk estate, and the distance between the houses is no more than 4 miles. Middleton and Hanbury both attended prestige schools – Middleton went to Marlborough and Hanbury went to Stowe School. David Rocksavage’s net worth is £112 million, while Prince William’s is £30 million.
What is Hanbury’s connection to the royal family?
Rose Hanbury’s grandmother was Queen Elizabeth II’s friend, and she served as a bridesmaid at Queen Elizabeth II’s wedding to Prince Philip. As for Hanbury and the Cambridge family, The Tatler reported, “The two couples are thought to have regularly double-dated, and Kate and Rose are both also patrons of the East Anglia Children’s Hospice.”
The Sun had an insider telling them, “They should be really close but things are tense between them. No one understands quite how things have come to this.”
Richard Kay from The Daily Mail stated how the allegations of the feud are not true, and how “both sides have considered legal action but, because none of the reports have been able to offer any evidence about what the so-called dispute is about, they have chosen to ignore it.”
Feud in the royal family
Alongside this alleged feud between Kate and Rose, Kate has been linked to Meghan Markle, Prince Harry’s wife. But there hasn’t been any concrete evidence to support this feud in the royal family, and there still isn’t any to support claims how Kate demanded Rose to be ‘’phased out’’ of their aristocratic society. Regardless, this is what we know about Rose Hanbury and her family, and we are hoping that the rumors are just rumors.
