Having your own coffee maker in your house is convenient because you can have your favorite cup of coffee first thing in the morning at the press of a button without having to leave the house. For many people, coffee is the elixir of life. It’s that one thing they need to start their day off right. It’s what kick starts their day. So why not invest in a coffee maker?

There are different kinds of coffee makers on the market, with various features and functions which could be overwhelming for a first-time buyer. Search online for coffee maker reviews and advice or just keep reading.

The Different Types Of Coffee Makers

Essentially there are 4 different types of coffee makers on the market. Each type has unique functions and comes with its own advantages and disadvantages depending on what your requirements are.

1. Drip Coffee Maker

The drip coffee maker is also known as the coffee brewer or the automatic drip. It is the most common type of coffee maker found in households across the world. It is affordable and produces a pot of coffee at once which fills several cups. It is also a very affordable option.

2. Single-Serve Coffee Maker

Next to the drip coffee maker, the single serve coffee maker is even easier to use. It is new on the market but has become popular because it is so easy to use. All you need to do is pop in your coffee pod and water, then enjoy a delicious cup of coffee with very little mess to clean up.

The single-serve coffee maker is also very affordable to purchase but can become expensive to use over time because coffee pods cost a fair bit.

3. French Press

The French press might be the most affordable type of coffee maker. It doesn’t use any electricity and not a lot of added costs with continued use. However, the coffee produced by the French press might not always be up to your standards because the flavor is dependent on how long you let it brew. The clean up afterward might also put you off.

4. Espresso Maker

An espresso maker is a serious coffee fanatic’s dream. It gives you a more pungent and flavourful cup of coffee just in a smaller quantity. Espressos makers also allow you to make different coffee drinks such as lattes, cappuccinos, and macchiatos.

Commonly the machine only produces one cup of coffee at a time but newer models have the ability to produce two. This type of coffee maker also tends to be the most expensive out of the four.

Now that you know about the different types of coffee makers there are a few other things that need to be considered before purchasing.

Budget: Before you start looking for the coffee maker you would like to purchase you need to decide how much you are willing to spend and look for the one within your price range. You will need to consider the upfront as well as the long-term cost attached to the appliance. For example, like constantly having to buy coffee pods.

Quantity: As you’ve read different types of coffee makers produce different quantities at a time. Take into consideration how many people will use the coffee maker and how much coffee do they drink in a sitting. You don’t want to struggle with a machine that can only produce one cup at a time when there are five people in the house that all want coffee at the same time.

Convenience: It would be inconvenient to have to wait for your housemates or family to each makes their own cup of coffee in the morning you might just end up back at your favorite coffee shop. If you’re someone that likes a strong cup of coffee first thing in the morning you might get annoyed fidgeting with an appliance with complicated settings when aren’t really awake yet.

You might prefer a coffee maker that just allows you to stick in your favorite coffee pod and press 1 button. You can also go for a machine that has a pre-set timer so that a steaming cup of coffee is waiting for you when you wake up.
