It takes more than just to hand a photo on a wall and call it a job well done. Decorating your living space requires far more than just simply hanging a piece of art on it just to satisfy your needs. You need to combine your home décor with various elements such as light, color, plants, and paintings to create the perfect environment where you can be at peace at all times.

By adding art to the equation, you will be giving your living space a new look, no matter how big or small it is. So here are a few tips on how to decorate your home with art.

Contents

  • 1. Art is an Accessory
  • 2. Go For a Specific Theme
  • 3. Consider the Scale of the Art
  • 4. Complement The Room with Color

1. Art is an Accessory

A piece of art can bring tranquility to your living space, and it doesn’t always need to be displayed on a blank wall to achieve that. Art can sometimes act as an accessory to your already furniture living space. Place the painting above your fireplace, to give it that bit more aesthetics or simply add a few plants next to it in order to bring out the beauty of it. Your art will become more enjoyable if there are more things around it.

2. Go For a Specific Theme

While it’s nice to have art from different periods, consider going for a single theme in order to match it with your surroundings. Go for a specific theme, like perhaps a Buddha Wall art that will truly embrace nature and bring tranquility into your home. By having such an art piece in your living room, you will welcome the love of Buddha into your home. Furthermore, Buddha wall art will closely tie your home to the various cosmic flows that surround us, connect us with nature, and with all living things.

3. Consider the Scale of the Art

When decorating your home with various art forms, a thing to note is the scale of the art itself. Make sure to relate the scale to the various items found inside your living space. Does your living room have a large bookshelf- then consider getting a bigger painting, one that will match the scale of the bookshelf.  Another important factor when talking about scale is quantity. If you don’t want to for a larger art piece, then consider adding more than one painting in order to cover the entirety of your couch. By matching the scale of your couch, you will fully utilize the “rule of three”, by filling up the rest of the space behind your furniture with three art pieces, you will achieve that sense of scale.

4. Complement The Room with Color

While it’s never preferred to buy a painting just so it can break up the mood, a good amount of thinking should be put into the type of materials and the colors that are dominating the painting itself. When choosing the right art for your living space, consider matching the styles and patterns, rather than set them off. If your room has lots of flowers and your furniture is consistent with various cheerful colors, then consider getting a painting that full further embrace that style, rather than clash with it.  Make sure to hang a painting that will further compliment your room, rather than be different from the rest.
