How to use an interactive analog clock?

by Petar Mikonoss February 19, 2019

You cannot expect your child to learn everything overnight there is need to install in them the interest and idea of what analog clock is, there are plentiful ways to do that.

Ask your child to check what time it is for you using an interactive analog clock, let them be more conversant with time and intervals between one program and another this way you can instigate the potentials in them.

Clock or watch with moving hands (moving in a circular motion) and an hours mark is what is referred to as analog clock with its face having numbers mark from 1- 12 or written in Roman numerals I – XII, while others don’t have numbers at all.

There are three indicating hands to show the seconds, minute and hour in an analog clock. The hand indicating the hours is usually short and thin while the one indicating the minutes is long and thin not all analog clock has the second indicating hand but when present it is usually long and very thin.

The second hand which is long and very thin goes round 60 times faster than the minute hand and 720 faster than the hour hand.

There are 24 hours a day. 12 hours at night time and 12 hours at day time and this fact tell us that for every single day (24 hours) you have 1,440 minutes and 86 400 seconds.

24X60=1,440

1440×60 = 86, 400

With this basics, you can begin to answer questions like; How many seconds are in 24 hours..?

How many minutes are in 72 hours?

How much time is there in 4 or 5 weeks..?

You can also ask a simple question of what time is it? Just take a look at the watch check where the hour hand (short and thin hand) is and see where it is pointing it might be pointing 2, 3, or any number let’s assume it is 12 and strike that.

The next thing is to look at the minute hand which is long and thin which is pointing let’s say 1, talking about minutes, that is 5 minutes past the hour in the second system each number represent 5 minutes.

In responding to the question of what time is we take our mind directly to the hour maker and then boom!

You see the hour markers in between let’s say 3 and 4, we all know that there are 60 minutes in an hour, so half of that is 30 minutes past the hour.

Let’s take a look at the simple design below to have a better knowledge of what we are talking here.

Below is a simple design indicating each hand and its function

As the usual 60 seconds = 1minute, 60 minutes = 1 hour.

In this case, the hour’s hand is pointing at 12. The minute hand is pointing at 1, which means 5 minutes. The second hand is pointing at 10 which indicate 50 seconds. So, the time in this clock is showing 12:5:50.

There are a lot of analog watches that don’t have numbers on their faces while in some only the 12 o’clock position is marked or only the 12, 3, 6 and 9 positions as enumerated in this article.

You have complete control of the movement of the hand and can, therefore, pose a question such as what will the time bein….?

With this, you can even create a time telling activities to inform of the quiz to test your knowledge and skills.

Not anyone has the natural ability to manage time as such Subject Coach provide a more creative approach on how to tell time using an interactive analog clock.

You can manipulate the clock to show an hour, half hour, a quarter or 3, 9, or 12 minutes.

We make learning easier with our online analog clock and resources that will help you boost your knowledge and clock skills.

Learning how to tell time can help you manage your time efficiently wake up in time during school and keep you alert during your favorite shows, the more you learn it the more creative you become.

Here, we create a more useful method that will help you play with any type of analog clock.

As we go with time we can also equip you with the appropriate guidance on how to tell directions (north and south) using our interactive analog clock.
