Learning a language has never been easier than it is today in the world of technology. We can talk to someone from the other side of the world whenever we like. We have an abundance of apps and technology at our fingertips ready to use when we feel like learning.

And one of the greatest things is: we no longer have to fork out loads of money on language books, because everything is available now as an ebook. We can literally click a button and the book appears on our kindle.

Our favourite types of ebooks to help with language learning are how to book and graded readers. Reading both of these types of ebooks gives you the ‘how’ and then the resources to help improve your language skills through practise.

These books are some of the top ebooks to read to help you learn a language. And when it comes to translating critical documents from any language, we have companies like this translation services nyc. So, these basically bridge all the gaps that comes due to language barrier.

How to language books

How to ebooks are a great way to understand the methodology behind language learning and what you should be doing to optimise your linguistic skills. Most people who write language books have slightly different methods, but they all share one thing in common, and that is their love of languages. It is this that makes how to language books so engaging to read.

Fluent in 3 months – Benny Lewis

Famous on Youtube and at Polyglot conferences around the world, when Benny released his book Fluent in 3 Months, it became an immediate bestseller and his technique has been adopted by thousands of people who complete ‘language missions’ every month.

Fluent in 3 months promotes a learning method that encourages you to speak from day one. This goes against the usual method, which usually focuses more on input in the early days before you start with an output.

But Benny breaks down what you should be doing step by step, including how you get over those nerves, how you can start speaking when you don’t have many words, and some quick tricks to help you on your way.

He swears by jumping in at the deep end and speaking to people as soon as you have the opportunity to, and he explains how you can do this in his very successful Fluent in 3 Months.

Fluent Forever – Gabriel Wyner

Fluent Forever is another great how-to book when it comes to learning a language and although his subject matter is the same as Benny’s, his approach and focus are slightly different.

Wyner places great importance one getting pronunciation right as quickly as possible. And getting things right sooner rather than later, with the idea that if you keep repeating a bad habit, you’re only going to solidify it and make it more difficult to change further down the line.

He also illustrates the importance of flashcards, which aren’t for everyone but they definitely help cram vocabulary and he explains why he finds them so useful in his book.

Reading two different how-to books about language learning with such different approaches will help to give you a more balanced view on what can work for you and you can adjust their methods for your needs.

Graded Readers

Graded readers are a quick way to get you into reading in your target language. If you haven’t come across them before, they’re basically books that have been written for a specific level of proficiency. There are books available for every level of learner regardless if you’re a complete beginner or a near-native speaker.

So if you’re at an intermediate level, for example, you can find stories that are interesting but have been written specifically for your level, rather than having to rely on children’s stories or books that are too difficult for you.

Lingo Press Books have a fantastic series of Spanish graded readers that have been written specifically for complete beginners and upper beginners. The stories are engaging and have been written with an adult in mind who is at a beginner level.

The beginner series includes five short stories, and the upper beginner series includes two short stories.

Rather than just a simple story, these books use engaging plots with graded language and grammar. This gives you a chance to improve your Spanish skills while enjoying reading at the same time.

Final thoughts

Reading the how-to books gives you an in-depth insight into how language learning works and allows you to pick the method that works for you. Everyone will differ depending on what they choose, but these books have been written by self-proclaimed polyglots who have dedicated their lives to that field.

When you’ve got your technique down, start reading for pleasure and to actually learn by using graded readers to find fun stories that are appropriate for your level.
