“One thing that is missing from the vision boards is what happens when you don’t get what you want. Your ability to adapt to failure, and navigate your way out of it, absolutely 100 percent makes you who you are.”
Viola Davis told Glamour about growing up in poverty, finding acting success as a young adult, and the many ups and downs she experienced in the years before and since. Her story is full of emotionally striking twists and turns, but as someone who tends to get a little too woo-woo now and then, I loved what she had to say about those damn vision boards and about failure being just as powerful as success — if not more so. What we learn from the bad times shapes how we handle the good times. Thanks for the reminder, Viola! [Glamour]
