Camilla Parker Bowles is the second wife of Prince Charles. She was his mistress before she became his wife, but when they married Camilla got some royal titles, that now go with her name. Camilla was married before and she has two children from that marriage. But her children didn’t get royal titles when their mother married Prince Charles. You may wonder why there is an answer ahead.
What are Camilla Parker Bowles’ royal titles?
When she became a wife of Prince Charles in 2005, Camilla Parker Bowles got a royal status too. She is now known as Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales and Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall. She decided not to use the title of Princess of Wales out of respect for the late Princess Diana because she is still known by that title. Instead, she uses the title of the Duchess of Cornwall when she is in England. She has other titles that she uses when she is in other countries, like Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Rothesay when she is in Scotland, and Countess of Chester, when she is Cheshire.
Once Prince Charles ascend the throne and becomes the King of England, Camilla won’t be the Queen, she will be the new Princess consort.
But despite her many titles, her children are not a part of the royal family and they do not have royal titles, like for example the children from Prince Charles, Prince William, and Prince Harry.
Camilla Parker Bowles’ children
Camilla Parker Bowles’ was married before she married Prince Charles, and she was married to Andrew Parker Bowles. From that marriage, she has a son, Tom Parker Bowles and a daughter, Laura Lopes.
Her children are regular at the events of the royal family, but they are not a part of the royal family, and they are not considered as the members of the royal family. They are just civilians with a mother that is now married to a prince. They don’t meet the royal protocol to receive royal titles of their own.
Will they maybe have royal titles in the future, when Prince Charles becomes the King of England?
They don’t have royal titles now, but there is a possibility they will have them in the future. Once their stepfather becomes the King of England, he might grant them royal status. They will have to do some royal work in return. There are some rules that need to be followed but if Charles, as the King of England, wants he can easily give them royal status, and royal titles. That’s because the monarch can grant royal status to whoever he wants. And that means that the Queen of England, Elizabeth II can do it too, but she doesn’t want.
And what about Camilla Parker Bowles’ and her royal title?
Once Prince Charles becomes the King of England, Camilla’s royal titles are going to change as well. She will not be the Princess of Wales, Duchess of Cornwall, Duchess of Rothesay or Countess of Chester anymore, she will be the princess consort. In the United Kingdom, when someone becomes a monarch his spouse doesn’t get the title of a queen or a king. We know that because the husband of Queen Elizabeth II isn’t the king. The spouse of the next king can take the title of either princess consort or queen consort. But it is known for many years now, that once Prince Charles becomes the new King of England, Camilla will be the princess consort. It was officially announced all the way back when the two of them married.
