Cleaning Your Car With Foam Cannon: The Hype and The Truth

The automotive industry is truly a place for innovation. Some projects work out well and some don’t meet the expectation. But hats off to foam cannon. A great companion of pressure washer that made the car cleaning job a lot easier.

Luckily, with a foam cannon attached at the end of a pressure washer, you no longer need to dip a towel again and again to soap your car. A foam cannon leaves sturdy foam on the car. Most amazingly, this foam stays for a while, unlike the regular soap that is very very slippery.

How Does a Foam Cannon Works

This is the simple theory of using an orifice. A foam cannon is attached at the end of pressure washer wand by simple attachment. An orifice is set up right after the attachment to create water pressure. A pipe is dipped into the soap mixture. The vacuum generated by the pressurized water sucks up the soap mixture and mix with water. Just after that, there is a foam generator.

That’s it! All you need to do is get a foam cannon for your pressure washer and load it up with soap mixture. Every foam cannon features two adjustable knobs to adjust the amount of foam needed.

What to Look for When Buying a Foam Cannon

Connector: This is the most important part of the whole process. A low-quality connector will be nothing but an added pain for you. Most of the models come with a brass connector which is the best material for a connector on the market. Stay away from any connector made of plastic.

Build Quality: Unless you do not want to spend a lot of money these things are cheap. But yet look for the models that offer very good build quality.

Bottle Capacity: You don’t want to be filling the bottle every five minutes. Some bottle that comes out of the box can be low in capacity. Make sure you select a bottle that is at least 30 ounce or more in size.

Transparent Bottle: Rather than some fancy colored bottles I prefer having a transparent bottle. With a transparent bottle, you can stop guessing and see how much foam is left. They are easy to use.

How to Use a Foam Cannon

Using a foam cannon is super easy as I mentioned earlier. By let’s make a step by step process.

The best part of it is, you do not have to pre-clean or pre-wash the car for applying foam.

  1. Sunshine would be perfect to bring out your pressure washer from the shed.
  2. Prepare a perfect mixture of car wash soap and pour it in the bottle. Attach the nozzle part of the foam cannon which acts as a lid of the bottle.
  3. Connect the foam cannon with your pressure washer wand with the quick attachment nozzle.
  4. Now, you are supposed to do only one thing. Foam party! Start spraying foam on your car. Start applying foam from bottom to top for better foam applicability.
  5. Now rinse it off with water using pressure washer from top to bottom.
  6. Leave it for drying off.

Don’t you think these steps are super easy to follow? Make sure you get a pressure washer and a foam cannon to try this process.

There is no better way to clean your car at home than this.
