You are probably already familiar with the fact that the British royal family has a set of rules that they have to follow. But did you know that there are also some words that they are too never say? Here is a list of 7 words that are prohibited in the royal family.
Pardon
It might seem like the most appropriate way to say to somebody after you don’t hear what the other person has said, but the members of the royal family have to say the word ‘’sorry’’ instead of pardon.
Toilet
Everyone used the word toilet, but in the royal family they use the British term for it, which is ‘’loo.’’
Perfume
If you want to compliment someone’s perfume, you have to say you like their ‘’scent’’ because the word ‘’perfume’’ is something the royal family cannot say.
Tea
English people usually invite someone over for a cup of tea when they want to invite someone over for dinner, but the royal family simply uses the word ‘’ dinner’’ when they invite people over, and have tea served for them.
Living room
Living room is an American word, and the British equivalent is ‘’sitting room.’’ That is why they never use ‘’living room’’ as a word.
Posh
Posh in the British language means when someone has class, or is elegant. However, when the royal family wants to describe someone as posh, they use the word ‘’smart’’ or ‘’intelligent.’’
Dessert
You will never hear members of the royal family asking for a dessert. Instead, they say ‘’pudding’’ when they are craving for something sweet.
