Everyone’s favourite Kate Middleton was the most famous royal girlfriend. She dated Prince William since the university and these two lovebirds went through many things. Before marrying Prince William, Kate was wearing ripped jeans, cowboy hats and even walked a catwalk in a see-through dress. Crown Princess Mary of Denmark
Born in Australia, little did Mary Donaldson know the man of her dreams was nothing less than the Prince of Denmark. For people who are not familiar with the world’s royal families, it is difficult to recognize one. The couple met at the 2000 Summer Olympics held in Australia, had a secret relationship until 2003 when they got engaged. Before marrying into the family, Mary was a commoner working as account director for a small Australian company, who later became an English tutor in Paris and at the end Crown Princess of Denmark.
Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway
Before Marring into Royal Family, Mette-Marit was a real rebel. Before meeting Prince Haanok, she had a rather poor education, not such a good past, rebellious period, was a single mom, worked as a waitress in a restaurant in Oslo, but her transformation was the greatest. Many question Crown Prince Haanok’s decision to marry Mette-Marit because of her past, yet the two decided to stay together.
Princess Sofia of Sweden
Another pre-royal with not such a nice past is Swedish Princess Sofia. Before meeting Prince Carl Philip, Sofia was a model a waitress and reality TV star. She became famous for kissing an adult film star Jenna Jameson.
This love was also put on a question but Prince Carl Philip defended his love and his wife. In one interview he said “Above all, she’s beautiful and has beautiful eyes. But she’s also a fantastic person. She’s down to earth and has a wonderful personality. There are so many good things to say about her.”
The Countess of Wessex
Before marrying Prince Edward, the youngest son of Queen Elizabeth, Sophie Rhys-Jones was working in public relations. The two met while she was working on Capital Radio.
Sarah, Duchess of York
Sarah Ferguson was working for an art gallery, two PR firms and a publishing company before marrying Prince Andrew and becoming the Duchess of York. The Prince and Sarah knew each other since childhood, but they started dating and got married in their 20’s. They have two daughters Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie. They separated in 1996.
Princess Charlene of Monaco
Princess Charlene was famous even before meeting Prince Albert. She was a world’s famous swimmer, who was waving a flag of South Africa at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. She started dating Prince Albert in 2000, but they were in secret until 2006. They got married in 2011 and have twins Princess Gabriella and Hereditary Prince Jacques.
The Duchess of Sussex
Meghan Markle was also famous before marrying Prince Harry in 2018. She was most famous for her role of Rachel Zane in Suits, but she gave up acting upon her engagement to the Prince. A part of a British public was against the marriage of the Prince and a girl whose parents are mixed race. Also, her parents are divorced and she’s not speaking to her father.
Meghan completely changed the Royal family. They are now more modern and open-minded, and the couple is happily expecting their first child in 2019.
Queen Letizia of Spain
It is not known just when King Filipe and Queen Letizia started dating, but it surprised everyone to find out about their engagements in 2003. Queen Letizia worked as a journalist for ABC and EFE and a news anchor at CNN+ and Televisión Española. She was reporting about 9/11 attack as well as Iraq war situation. King and Queen have two daughters Princess Leonor and Princess Sofia.
Queen Maxima of the Netherlands
Queen Maxima was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Willem-Alexander in April 1999 in Seville, Spain, at the Seville Spring Fair. She has a degree in economics and she worked HSBC, Deutsche Bank and Kleinwort Hambros. King and Queen married in 2002 and have three daughters Catharina-Amalia, Princess Alexia and Princess Ariane.
Princess Grace of Monaco
Princess Grace was a Hollywood star before meeting Prince Rainier III of Monaco in Cannes. After marrying the Prince, Grace Kelly gave up acting at age 26. They had three children and lived a happy life until her death caused by a stroke in 1982.
Crown Princess Masako of Japan
Masako refused Crown Prince Naruhito of Japan three times before accepting to marry him because she didn’t want to give up her career in diplomacy, her freedom and independence. They got engaged in 1992 and after eight years of their marriage, they got a daughter, Princess Aiko. Being a female child, Aiko will not succeed her father’s throne. The throne will go to the first male child in the family.
Crown Prince Daniel of Sweden
Olof Daniel Westling was Crown Princess Victoria’s personal trainer and ran a company Balance Training before they started dating in 2001. They have two children Princess Estelle and Prince Oscar.
Princess Marie of Denmark
Marie Agathe Odile Cavallier is the second wife of Prince Joachim of Denmark. She worked for international advertising agencies before becoming a Princess. She is the mother of two children Prince Henrik and Princess Athena and a stepmother to Prince Nikolai and Prince Felix.
Queen Mathilde of Belgium
Queen Mathilde was born jonkvrouw which in Belgium law means the lowest rank within the nobility, which means she wasn’t a complete commoner. She was a speech therapist and has a master’s degree in psychology. She married then Prince, now King Philippe in 1991 and they have four children, Princess Elisabeth, Prince Gabriel, Prince Emmanuel and Princess Eléonore.
