This is not a drill, people. The trailer for the second season of your favorite bodice-ripping, time-traveling, historical romance is here, and it is a doozy.
Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) have taken up residence in France in the hopes of thwarting the Jacobite rebellion, which Claire knows is a losing proposition for her Scottish loverman. After all the things they’ve been through together, surely they can’t let the course of history get in the way of their love! So there’s all sorts of fancy court intrigue and heaving bosoms and candlelight. Plus, Claire is looking suspiciously glowy and round around the middle.
But then there’s Frank Randall (Tobias Menzies) being like, “I’m so stoked you’re back in the present!” and Claire’s in the hospital, and… There’s a lot to take in. They’re obviously saving some good stuff for future teasers, because they don’t even give us a peek at the most hotly anticipated new character, Brianna.
As per the first season, this will cover the events in the second book in the series, Dragonfly in Amber, although it is not clear if the show will spend more time in the bone zone than the book does. For the sake of our inner sassenach, we certainly hope so.
Outlander will return to Starz on April 9 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
