The 93rd birthday of Queen Elizabeth II is just around the corner, and with that said it is logical that she won’t be driving anymore. If we are honest it is strange that the Queen was still driving till this day, and the reasons why this is strange are many. For example, she is a queen, so why would she be driving herself anywhere, and the other reason is that she is pretty old.
But the Queen decided to voluntarily give up driving on public roads. Her security team advised her to do that and she agreed with them. Was it something that she wanted to do, or did she decided to do that after Prince Philip’s car crash that happened earlier this year?
Buckingham Palace announced that the Queen won’t be driving on public roads, but maybe she will still drive on private roads. And the Buckingham Palace declined to comment about The Queen driving on private roads.
Around two months prior to this Prince Philip, who is 97 at the moment, gave up his driver’s license. And it was because he was involved in a car accident. The Duke of Edinburgh was driving his Land Rover, near Sandringham, and he crashed with another car. He was unharmed in the crash, but the driver of the other car sustained some cuts in the accident and the passenger broke her wrist. The was a 9-months-old baby in the backseat, but fortunately, she wasn’t injured in the crash.
The Duke of Edinburgh apologized in a letter, and he said that he was shaken and deeply sorry about everything. He took the responsibility for the crash, and he said that he didn’t see the other car coming. He also said that he was greatly relieved that there wasn’t more damage and that no one was seriously hurt. And that’s the reason why Prince Philip decided to voluntarily give up on his driver’s license.
