Vince Vaughn, star of the upcoming second season of “True Detective,” is also on the cover of this month’s UK edition of GQ, and surprise, America, he stans hard for the Second Amendment. Like, crazier than I had ever thought or imagined Vince Vaughn, a man I don’t think about all that often, to be. Here are some choice nuggets of wisdom:
“It’s well known that the greatest defense against an intruder is the sound of a gun hammer being pulled back.”
Really? Is that it? That’s the best defense against an intruder? All right, Vince. Tell me more about your thoughts on guns. Do they belong in schools?
“Of course. You think the politicians that run my country and your country don’t have guns in the schools their kids go to? They do. And we should be allowed the same rights. Banning guns is like banning forks in an attempt to stop making people fat. Taking away guns, taking away drugs, the booze, it won’t rid the world of criminality.”
Ah. Okay. Anything else to say to us before we back towards the door, because you appear to be insane about gun control?
I support people having a gun in public full stop, not just in your home. We don’t have the right to bear arms because of burglars; we have the right to bear arms to resist the supreme power of a corrupt and abusive government.
Sure. Sounds good, Vince. Guns in public will certainly help us in our crusade an unjust and corrupt government, and it most definitely won’t cause any real issues, problems, or concerns. You are entitled to your thoughts, like everyone else in this country is entitled to theirs, but I sincerely hope the gun-crazy, paranoid America you seem to live in does not become a reality.
