Following his case on sexual assault, Bill Cosby filed legal docs railing on the judge Steven O’Neill for not allowing him to bail pending appeal, claiming that judge had some personal issues with Bruce Castor, the former District Attorney and also a key witness to the case.
According to Cosby, Castor, who worked on the case back in 2005, promised not to prosecute him in the Andrea Constand case if he gives a sworn testimony in her case. Cosby’s lawyers said that the judge was hash on Castor due to their personals feuds. In his sworn statement, Castor said that he received “tremendous animosity from Judge O’Neill toward me from the moment that I took the stand.”
The conflict between the two parties started back in 1998, according to Castor. He stated that he competed against O’Neill for the position of D.A. and that it became a very foul. There was a story about O’Neill having an extramarital affair, which he thought came from Castor, which made him very furious. Above all, Castor won.
Castor in his statement admitted that he promised Cosby not to prosecute him, saying, “I believed at the time that the allegation was made that there was insufficient evidence to convict Mr Cosby on the facts as presented to me, something that time has shown was an accurate assessment.”
Therefore Cosby’s lawyers are asking to free the pending appeal of their client.
Cosby’s wife, Camille, believes that “the truth is more powerful than a corrupt judge and that my husband will once again be free.”
