How to land a job at Facebook

by Petar Senjo February 15, 2019

Facebook is the world leading social media platform at the moment. Its growth was insanely high from 2006 up until today, 2019.

Rumors say that when Facebook first started seeing recognition, it had only 100 employees approximately. Now, Facebook has more than 30.000 confirmed employees, working every day to keep this huge website up and running.

With all of this being said, if you are someone that loves social media and has been on it for a while, you are probably wondering how you can land a job at such a massive corporation like Facebook. Well, we might have some tips for you.

Let’s start with the basics.

Contents

Getting someone who already works there to recommend you

Okay, so this one is pretty basic and goes for almost any company out there. It helps you a lot for getting recognized if someone mentions you as a potentially solid employee. If they say some good things and have proof that you are talented, hard-working and persistent, you will have much better chances of getting the job spot.

Talking to someone who works or has worked there already

This one can seriously help you a lot for you to prepare for what’s coming. If you know someone that already works there, the first tip applies as well as this one, but if you don’t have anyone that’s close to you and works there already, you can try looking up someone online and doing research on their career while they were working at Facebook. You might find out some useful things, or even better, you might get to talk to that person and get some answers. If the person is willing to talk, you can use this to gain a huge advantage. You may get some insight on what to expect in an interview, on the company itself and what they want or require from their employees. This will highly increase your chances of landing the job if you decide to go for it.

Facebook has various ways of recruiting its employees

So, it is said by people who actually work there, that Facebook has tons of different ways to recruit workers. They sometimes vary from simple interviews like in any other company to university job fairs, conferences and sometimes even TED Talks. This means that you can basically get recognized almost anywhere if you’re a good fit for their team.

You might even get noticed by Mark Zuckerberg himself

A Facebook employee was once interviewed back in 2013, and she said that Facebook’s famous CEO Mark Zuckerberg likes to really reach down deep into the recruitment process and sometimes even get to personally know the employee before giving him the job. It is said that chemistry, getting to know each other and feeling like a part of one big family is one of the most important things in this world leading company.

The perks of working at Facebook

Okay, so now that you have some insight on how you can increase your chances for landing a job at Facebook, let’s talk a little about the perks of actually working there.

Facebook employees have said that it’s the best place to work at and that they get treated like home. All the way from small things such as free food all the time, up to covered insurance costs, free bike repairs, free massages, extra payment if you’re performing well, a lot of free team building activities and many more. Sounds great, doesn’t it?

Even if for some reason, you somehow decide to leave your workplace, you will have a much better time getting employed by other companies in the future if you have “worked at Facebook” in your portfolio. Everybody knows that Facebook will choose quality over quantity and this will help you be noticed as a solid fit in the eyes of many other companies.
