There are several reasons why someone would stick to making his or her own juices at home. It doesn’t matter whether you are doing it with the desire to lose weight or with the desire for detoxification, there are several things you should do and several others that you should avoid.  It all depends on why you are juicing. Although there’s no big difference when juicing for energy, weight loss, and detoxification, one common question is whether what you are juicing it right and whether it has all the necessary nutrients. In this short article, I am going to discuss the dos and don’ts of juicing.

Have the right appliances

This is the first thing that you are supposed to do before you even start juicing. You need to ensure that you have a good juicer for the task. It’s a necessity like any other kitchen appliance. The good thing is that there are several brands to choose from. If you are just starting up, you don’t have to go for the most expensive in the market. On the other hand, if you are already an expert, you will have to choose the best blenders for juicing in the market. You want to do it like a pro and hence, having the best appliances is a good point to start.

Nutrient Balance

Even though you are likely to get vitamins and several other nutrients from the juice you are preparing, you are supposed to ensure that it has the right nutrients. Including so many fruits and ignoring vegetables will just give you too much of carbohydrates. This can end up affecting your blood sugar levels. To avoid this, you should ensure that you are using the right ingredients when juicing.

Prep your produce

Now that you have the right appliance, you need to prepare vegetables and fruits that you want to juice. You can’t just get whole fruits and vegetables and throw them in your blender and expect the machine to work the right way and your juice to taste good. You need to take time to prepare the produce properly and carefully. The first thing is to wash and then slice them to the right size depending on the size of your juicer. For fruits, you may also have to peel away the hard outer skin. The next thing is to remove the seeds and other hard parts of the fruity before you put them in your blender.

Line your pulp basket

You can expect too much of solid waste from the juicing process. To ensure that you don’t have a hard time cleaning, you have to line the pulp collection bin of your juicer with plastic wrap. After you are done with juicing, you are only required to pull the wrap out and dispose of the wastes.

Common Juicing Mistakes

There are several mistakes that people make while juicing and there are some chances that you are also making them. If you avoid every mistake that we are going to list here, juicing is likely to be amazing.

Don’t put too many sweet fruits and vegetables

This is a very common mistake that people make while juicing. I know it can be tempting to add more sweet fruits and vegetables into your juicer, remember juicing is a good way of getting the right nutrients in your body and nit fetching some sweet drink. What this means is that getting a lot of sweet fruits and vegetables in your juicer is not the best way of getting the right nutrients in your body. Sweet produce can expose your body to too much sugar which can be dangerous.

Not timing

In juicing, Timing is everything. There are recommendations that you should drink your juice at least half an hour before a meal. You should as well take it in an empty stomach. This way, your body will have an exclusive opportunity to absorb the entire amazing nutrients in your juice. However, if you don’t time your drinking schedules well, you are likely to compromise the whole process. However, timing depends on your ultimate goal of making the juice. If you were in this move for weight loss, then timing is a necessity. One mistake that beginners make is t not timing at all. Just bear in mind that juicing is not meant to be a meal. I bet you are doing this with a purpose and hence you have to ensure you are doing it the right way.

Not having a cold press

Majority of people don’t regard a slow juicer as a necessity. However, the fact is that there are several advantages to having a slow juicer. They are the best machines to produce high-quality juices, and for this reason, you should buy one for your future use. They don’t use high speed to force the juice to separate with the solid waste. A cold press juicer slowly compresses fruits and vegetables to slowly produce the juice. This means that if you want more nutrients in your body, then this is the best machine to use. Even if you don’t have a cold juicer now, don’t be left out, juicing is better than not juicing at all.

Never use dirty produce

The other mistake that most of the people make is not considering the produce they are using. Although juicing is a good way of getting the right nutrients in your body, if you are not careful, then your body will also be taking pesticides and other harmful chemicals. Always use organic produce and clean them well before you start juicing. There are some of the fruits and vegetables that have a higher pesticide rating, and for this reason, you can buy them organic.

Don’t drink your juice fast

Most of the people don’t even take time to sip the juice. Majority of them take it in 3 seconds flat. Juices are not for quenching your thirst, they are specifically to get the right nutrients in your body. For this reason, you don’t have to take it like soda. You need to give your digestive enzymes some time to reconstruct and start the digestion.
