Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have unfollowed all of their fellow royals on Instagram, including the account of Prince William and Kate Middleton. However, this has nothing to do with family issues. Instead, the decision seems to based on a good cause.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are now following just 16 other accounts on their official Instagram account, Sussex Royal, and Kensington Royal doesn’t seem to be among those 16. On the other hand, Prince William and Kate are still following the account of their brother and sister-in-law.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry announced on Tuesday that their Instagram account will start highlighting mental health awareness accounts. This will happen during the month of May as May is Mental Health Awareness Month in the US. So, this means that they will follow only mental health awareness accounts.
‘Each month we will honour this same concept and change the accounts we solely follow based on a different theme or cause,’ they wrote under their most recent post. ‘Please go to our homepage and click ‘following’ to see each of the select accounts and find out more about their work.’
This is not the first time they’ve been focused on removing the stigma against mental health. In fact, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry have always been focused on putting the advocacy on mental health a priority. Hence, they even launched an organization which is focused on changing the conversation about mental health by fundraising a number of innovative new mental health services.
As the recent post on the Sussex Royal account read, their initiative will continue in the next months. In fact, the royal couple plans to change the accounts they follow according to a different theme or cause each month.
