It has been reported that Prince Harry used to have a secret Facebook account which he deleted. He used the Facebook account under a pseudonym to contact his loved ones during his deployment in Afghanistan in 2007.
The Duke of Sussex used the account under a pseudonym to avoid being detected. You probably know that none of the royal family is a fan of social media. Before becoming the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle used to have Instagram and Twitter account, as well as, a blog called The Tig. However, she had to delete them.
According to Katie Nicholl, royal author and author of the 2010 book William and Harry, Harry used to have a Facebook account back in 2007 during his deployment in Afghanistan. Katie also explains that when in Afghanistan, he and the others were allowed only 30 minutes of time on a satellite phone.
Hence, he used this time to contact his loved ones, especially his girlfriend at the time through social media. Chelsey Davy, whom Prince Harry used to date, was his girlfriend during that time. Based on Katie’s claims in the books, the Duke of Sussex used to send messages such as “Lots of love to you, probably see you soon unfortunately for you, hehe! laters ginge!”
He used the pseudonym “Spike Wells” and succeeded in being undetected. He chose his pseudonym as Spike was his nickname. In fact, even his protection officers referred to him as Spike. Nevertheless, an Australian press leaked his location in Afganistan and he had to leave his post earlier than expected.
After many reports that Prince Harry has been partying in Las Vegas, he deleted his Facebook account in 2012.
