On August 31, 1997, Princess Diana was with her boyfriend at the time, Dodi Fayed in Mercedes S280 with a chauffeur and their bodyguard Trevor Rees-Jones. While entering a tunnel to escape paparazzi, the chauffeur, Henry Paul lost control over the car and crashed. Rees-Jones was the only survivor, while Paul and Fayed died at the scene. Princess Diana was rushed to a hospital, but she didn’t make it alive. Everyone thought that it was the paparazzi fault, but it was later discovered that the chauffeur, Henry Paul as actually inebriated and that he was the one to be blamed for that tragic car accident.
The royal family planned it?
Even though the detailed investigation revealed the cause of the accident, there are some who aren’t buying it. They think that the royal family had something to do with it.
A lot of conspiracy theories are behind Princess Diana’s death. This one says that Mohamed Fayed revealed how Princess Diana was pregnant with his son’s baby, Dodi Fayed at the time of the accident. He also said that the royal family had a problem with Dodi Fayed being an Egyptian Muslim, and they planned the car accident, in order to not allow Fayed and Princess Diana to marry and have a baby. Independent stated that Queen Elizabeth II and the royal family, “could not accept that an Egyptian Muslim could eventually be the stepfather of the future King of England.”
Met Police organized an investigation based on Mohamed Fayed’s claims, but it was revealed through the post-mortem examination that Princess Diana wasn’t pregnant at the time of her death.
Other conspiracy theories
There are many other dark theories surrounding Princess Diana’s death. Here are some of them.
Someone wanted her dead
Princess Diana thought, before she died, that she might be killed by an establishment. Princess Diana’s former butler, Paul Burrell said how he got a letter from Princess Diana, in which she wrote, “I am sitting here at my desk today in October, longing for someone to hug me and encourage me to keep strong and hold my head high. This particular phase in my life is the most dangerous. […] is planning ‘an accident’ in my car, brake failure, and serious head injury in order to make the path clear for Chares to marry.”
Paparazzi
We mentioned before how people blamed paparazzi for the accident, but it was later revealed that the driver was intoxicated. Still, some think that the paparazzi are to blame because if they weren’t chasing them, none of it would have happened. Some also believe how the paparazzi planned the whole thing. The investigation proved Henry Paul guilty, and the paparazzi had nothing to do with it.
