Do you wake up with sore muscles and lack your usual pep? Well, you may be even falling into depression and have a lack of dedication. Well, everything could come from some source and before making any drastic change, you should consider your mattress and sleeping habits once. Yes, from a physical ache to mental illness, your mattress has dramatic effects on your body and mind.

Your sleep may get hampered because of a malformed mattress and its prospective allergy issues. Not getting proper rest because of bad mattress could lead to some potential health problems. Some of them are mentioned below:

1. Memory: the REM stage in sleep solidifies your memory. If you don’t get enough sleep, your capability to retain info gets narrowed.

2. Awareness: If you find yourself less aware of your people or surroundings daily, blame your mattress for it. Lack of sufficient sleep makes your mind cloudy. It prohibits multitasking. It affects your cognitive skills too.

3. Creativity: Lack of adequate sleep affects your ability to think outside the box. It degrades your problem-solving abilities and thinking potential. It also affects you in multiple choices and situations where you need creative solutions.

4. Blood pressure: Every REM stage of your sleep affects your blood pressure and helps in maintaining it normally. If your sleep cycles are interrupted, then your blood pressure may drastically get reduced, leading to heart problems. Your sleep releases hormones which regulate stress and that further helps in maintaining your blood pressure.

5. Weight: Yes, getting a bad night sleep can lead to weight gain. Yes, during your sleep you burn calories and your metabolism is increased. But when you do not sleep well, your metabolism tends to slow down and it makes it difficult for your body to burn fats it has consumed all day. Additionally, it affects your appetite too and makes you feel like starving.

6. Depression: One of the major effects of poor sleep is damage to your mental state. Insomnia is also a result of the poor mattress and may lead to a feeling of depression. Lack of sleep has a link with depression and poor mental state.

7. Heat: Another issue with a bad mattress is heat. The mattress absorbs your body heat and has no way to get out. It stays there and keeps your body warm all night.

8. Soreness: If you find your body sore after your sleep, your mattress is bad for you. A mattress should form your body and render the right amount of support. It should keep your spine straight and be supportive towards your neck and head.

Small Fixes

Fixing the issue doesn’t always mean to purchase a new mattress. If you have just bought one last year, then you cannot afford one this year. Fortunately, you can perform a couple of small fixes that will benefit you greatly.

1. Mattress topper: A mattress topper does wonder and is priced less than a new mattress. You can go for a foam mattress topper to keep you cool during sleep. The material absorbs excess heat and gives your body the much-needed caress and comfort. It has support which firmly adds to your body formation.

2. A good mattress: Not sleeping nicely could lead to some health issues. Poor sleep can put your mental and physical health at stake and turn you towards a path which you haven’t thought of. Thus, you should never sleep on a bad mattress. If your mattress is old, then change it. If it is not according to your body type, then get one which matches your body requirement.

3. Mattress cover: Sleepers who have allergy issues have the best fix to get a mattress cover. Mattress covers are waterproof and they are thin enough not to be felt during sleep at night. They render protection from any kind of infestation.

4. Pillows: For additional support, pillows should be used. A pillow kept under your back can make your bed position supportive and soft. Keeping one below you support your back and help you lift in the circumstance where a dip has been formed in the mattress. You can also hold one between your legs for a good night sleep.

5. Sleeping environment: Change the environment in which you sleep to get better sleep overall. For instance, if you like lower temperatures when you sleep then you will sleep faster and deeper. It allows your body to go to a lower temperature naturally and enjoy a pleasant sleep at night. Secondly, avoid electronics at night as they stimulate your mind.

The cost of investment is low and thus, getting a good mattress is very important for a good life and a better night sleep every night. So, go ahead and get one now!
