In the times we are living in getting and keeping a good job even if it is a 9 to 5 one isn’t as easy as it once was. Unemployment in the USA has increased over the years, and thousands of qualified people are staying jobless. One of the ever-developing industry is technology and it always seems like there are enough workplaces for anyone interested. But the thing is that if you want to become a tech worker you have to be full of patience, knowledge, and qualifications to get the work done. And workers in tech companies know to stay for much more than what is their work time day after day – and this leaves them with no time for themselves or their families.
Though working in a tech company can be a source of good income it isn’t easy and you have to put a lot of effort each and every day. And it would all be fine it the atmosphere wouldn’t get so toxic from time to time – and it isn’t something that we came up with but numerous anonymous surveys claim such results. Having this in mind, it wouldn’t be wrong to ask is it all worth it and how satisfied are people working in tech companies? Without further ado let’s go ahead and take a look at the relevant results provided by an anonymous survey!
How Happy Are The Tech Workers
A social platform called Blind has performed a survey in a few tech companies and received 10,677 answers to the question – Are you happy at your current workplace? The survey included workers coming from different social structures and working in different places and the final results were that 66.2% said YES while the remaining 33.8% said NO. Now, though more people are claiming that they are satisfied these results still aren’t ideal and go on to show that the tech industry might not be all birds and the bees. We can see that more than 3000 people from the relevant survey said that their workplace didn’t make them happy and we can only imagine if it was due to a toxic environment, certain misconducts (which are often reported) or even sexual assaults.
Now, LinkedIn employees have yielded the most YES answers and 83% of them claim they are happy and satisfied. Only to follow are Uber with 78% and Salesforce with a few percents less (73%). On the other hand, online selling platform eBay and social platform Snapchat have hit the rock bottom and have the lowest number of happy workers out of all.
But what is Blind and why we should take this survey as a relevant one? Well, it is an anonymous social network with a goal of shedding some light to what is happening behind the scenes at a workplace. A lot of big companies have supported the use of it with Microsoft being at the top as more than 50,000 employees are official using and stating their opinions on a regular basis, followed up by Amazon with about 20,000 less and Facebook that has about 9,000 employees using it on a regular basis. This anonymous social network is an excellent platform and can be of great benefit to both the employees who are given to opportunity to express their opinion without the risk of losing their job (as it is anonymous) and the company owners who can improve and change their methods if surveys show dissatisfactory results.
Summary
Tech industry is a huge one and tens of thousands of people are working in it across the states. Of course, anyone at a certain workplace would like that it is as pleasant and as comfortable but the truth is a bit more bitter and the atmosphere can get quite toxic from time to time. As we can see 33.2% of surveyed employees aren’t satisfied and happy at their workplace and only they and the company owners know why that can be. Still, we would like to suggest that keeping a healthy work environment and good relations between the cooperating team is a must both for personal and company’s success!
