During Christmas Eve back in 2008, his two big companies SpaceX and Tesla were literally only hours away from bankruptcy. However, at the last moment, Elon Musk was able to secure a sum of $20M from investors and save his companies in the final hours. Only two days later, SpaceX closed a huge contract with NASA, worth approximately $1.6B.
