Life in public eye certainly can be difficult, just like the former actress and now Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle has learned. Currently, the media is interested in all of her ups and down, wants to know everything about her relationship with Prince Harry as well as about her troubled situation with some of her relatives. Despite all this, Meghan tries to stay grounded and connected with her close friends. She also explores her spirituality.
Meghan’s relationship with God
The Duchess never publicly professed to any particular religion even though she was raised in the Episcopalian faith. According to sources in People article, Meghan is profoundly spiritual, and her faith helps her to deal with tough situations.
She has always had a close relationship with God, and in advance of her wedding, she was baptized into the Church of England, which is the royal family’s official religion. Allegedly, Meghan prays every day and believes in the idea that she cannot control everything that happens in her life.
The religion of the royal family
Queen Elizabeth II was more than happy when Meghan was baptized in March 2018. The ceremony was held privately with the attendance of members of the royal family- Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla. Kate Middleton also did this step a while ago prior to her marriage to Prince William in 2011. Even though this step isn’t required, the Duchesses did it as a gesture of respect to the Queen.
The traditional church of the royal family is the Church of England. The family has been involved in this Protestant-Anglican church since the 1500s. Queen Elizabeth is very dedicated to it. Besides attending the services, she is also involved with the church’s policy.
What church do the members of the royal family attend?
The Royals have their favorite church, just like many other American families. For special occasions, they always pick church of St. Mary Magdalene, which was built in the 16th century. It is full of Gothic arches and historic artifacts.
This church even owns an incredible jewel-encrusted Bible. Even though there have been many renovations and repairs over the years, this is still the Queen’s favorite, and the family gathers there whenever they can.
Meghan and her husband will face many challenges next year since they are welcoming their new baby. We don’t know yet whether Meghan will raise the child to be as spiritual as she is, but we can surely say that religion brings a sense of calmness and makes life challenges easier.
