Princess Diana became an instant star ever since she first stepped into the spotlight as Prince Charles‘ bride. Even though her life was cut tragically short, everything she did, from her humanitarian work to her fashion, is still something that the public is still interested in.
Leading up to the 20th anniversary of her death, on 31th August 2017, Princes William and Harry allowed cameras to capture them as they flipped through personal childhood photo albums in the documentary Diana, Our Mother: Her Life And Legacy.
Once the princes started looking through the photographs, many rejoicing memories came to their mind, including their mother’s crazy laugh, her hugs and many more. Prince William reminisced the time she surprised him with a visit from supermodels. He said: „I was completely and utterly sort of awestruck. That was a very funny memory that’s lived with me about her, loving and embarrassing and being sort of the joker.“
„I think it’s never going to be easy for us to talk about out mother, but 20 years on seems like a good time to remind people of the difference that she made, not just to the royal family but also to the world“, is what Prince Harry had to say about his mother.
He continued: „All I want to do is fill the holes that my mother has left, and between myself and William, and everyone else who’s in those privileged positions, to try and make a difference. That’s what it’s about for us. To try and make a difference.“
The princes are supporting charities that were dear to their mother and expanding their humanitarian work to include mental-health advocacy, and in that way they are continuing her legacy.
