The actress Priyanka Chopra got married to Nick Jonas in India during this past weekend. Her Ralph Lauren hand-embroidered wedding dress included scalloped sleeves and a high-neck collar. She had a75-foot long tulle veil and custom Jimmy Choo heels.
She commented how important for her was that she had a Ralph Lauren wedding dress since the brand was such “a part of [their] love story” because the designer dressed them both for the Met Gala when they got together.
“For the western wedding, we had been talking to a bunch of incredible designers, but ultimately when Ralph Lauren approached us, I learned that Ralph has only designed three wedding dresses in 50 years — one for his daughter, his daughter in law, and his niece. I was blown away.”
The gown allegedly took 1,826 hours to make and had 2,380,000 mother of pearl sequins.
For their Hindu wedding, Priyanka Chopra wore a red sequin sari, while Jonas wore cream. “I love that our wedding was a religious mash-up,” Chopra said. “We took beautiful traditions that we both grew up with and personalized them in a way that made sense for us. It’s been incredible to find the commonalities between our beliefs and figuring out how to blend them in a respectful and meaningful way.”
