Languages
All members of the royal family had to learn at least one additional language in their life. Prince Charles and Prince William are amazing at five languages, and while Queen Elizabeth II knows some phrases and words in foreign languages, she can only fluently speak two.
English
The mother tongue, obviously. However, she has a certain English accent that is more famously knows as posh or, “the Queen’s English.” That accent exists amongst the royalty and noble families. “The Queen’s English” is called “the King’s English” when there is a king on the throne.
French
Marion Crawford, Her Majesty’s tutor, and governess helped her learn French when she was a child. “Her reading skills were excellent — both pronunciation and rhythm were very good, but you could feel she was quite tense,” linguist expert, Camille Chevalier-Karfi told French newspaper, The Local. “I was impressed by the quality of her French … no stuttering pour la reine.”
French in the family
Prince Charles, Prince William, Kate Middleton, Prince Philip, Princess Anne, and Prince Andrew all are fluent in French.
German language
Prince Philip spent his childhood speaking German in his family. Prince Charles and Prince William are also familiar with German.
Welsh
Prince Charles and Prince William can speak Welsh too, but we don’t know just how fluent they are in it.
Gaelic
Prince Charles and Prince William know some phrases and words, and they comment a thing or two in Gaelic when they visit Northern Ireland and Scotland.
Spanish
Prince George and Princess Charlotte are learning Spanish, which is the native language of their nanny, Maria TurrionBorrallo.
Swahili
Can you believe that Prince William can speak Swahili too? He doesn’t know much, but it helps him adjust more when he visits the Swahili-speaking countries in Africa.
Russian
Prince Michael of Kent and his wife speak a bit of Russian language.
Tagalog
Meghan Markle was heard speaking the language of the Philippines, Tagalog when she and Prince Harry visited Edinburgh.
