Even though Kate Middleton and Prince William are living their fairytale now, with their three children – Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, there used to be some tougher times for the royal couple.
2007 split
Prince William and Kate met in 2001 while going to St. Andrews University in Scotland. They dated for a long time until William decided to end their relationship in 2007. They reconciled eventually. “We were both very young,” said William in his 2010 interview. “It was at university, we were sort of both finding ourselves as such and being different characters and stuff, it was very much trying to find our own way and we were growing up.” Kate added, “I think at the time I wasn’t very happy about it, but actually, it made me a stronger person.”
2004 split
According to the book The Duchess of Cambridge: How Kate Middleton Became A Future Queen, William and Middleton ended things between them in 2004. Jessica Jayne wrote in her book that William wanted some space, so he decided to go to a summer break with his friend, Guy Pelly, which left Kate devastated. An insider shared with the author that Kate was miserable at the time and she “got quite drunk on white wine and really let her guard down. She was debating whether or not she should text or call him. She said how sad she was and how much she was missing William but never mentioned it after that.”
Carole Middleton is the reason?
Duncan Larcome wrote in his book William & Kate: The Journey, he said that Carole’s profession as a flight attendant wasn’t too welcomed around William’s friends, and he stated that it will lead to people calling Kate “doors to manual” and Prince’s friend advised him to call it quits.
These are all just gossip. One of the gossips around their break up is that Camilla Parker Bowles thought Kate was “too common” so she required Prince Charles to talk William out of marrying Kate. Buckingham Palace dismissed all Carole’s connections to Kate and William’s split.
