Many people were surprised that Prince William and Kate Middleton didn’t visit Meghan Markle and her son Archie right after she gave birth. It has been reported that they will visit their new nephew a week after he was born. The Queen, Prince Philip, and Markle’s mother Doria Regland have already met Archie.
„It seems a bit strange that William and Kate have not yet been to see Archie. I’m sure for many, it will fee into the recent narrative that Harry and William have grown apart. Of course, it was Harry and Meghan’s decision to move away from Kensington Palace, which does make the logistics a bit more difficult,“ veteran royal reporter and author Phil Dampier told The Telegraph.
It has been reported that Markle’s mother Doria Ragland will be staying with Prince Harry and Markle in Windsor, to help them with the baby. During and event at the Cutty Sark in Greenwich, Prince William talked about being excited to welcome the newest royal member into the family, saying: „Obviously thrilled, absolutely thrilled, and obviously looking forward to seeing them in the next few days when things have quietened down. I’m very pleased and glad to welcome my own brother into the sleep deprivation society that is parenting. I wish him all the best and I hope in the next few days they can settle down and enjoy having a newborn in their family and the joys that come with that.“
„We couldn’t be more delighted at the news and we’re looking forward to meeting the baby when we return,“ Prince Charles said shortly after arriving in Berlin.
Kate Middleton also talked about welcoming little Archie into the family, and she said: „We’re looking forward to meeting him, these next few weeks are always a bit daunting the first time round so we wish them all the best.“
