We have been witnesses of various headlines and articles that speak about the feud that goes on between Kate and Meghan and some articles are simply insulting and they attack these members of the royal family. In order to avoid similar situations, the royal family now has a guideline that would have the purpose of preventing the online abuse and spam.
All members of the royal family have to be polite, and they need to be courteous when giving interviews and comment to any media. This is stated by the Clarence House and Kensington Palace.
We should also note that these rules are available online and that they do not refer only to making threats and discrimination but also to spam and advertising.
So, here is the excerpt from the guideline that is available online:
“Comments must not:
- Contain spam, be defamatory of any person, deceive others, be obscene, offensive, threatening, abusive, hateful, inflammatory or promote sexually explicit material or violence.
- Promote discrimination based on race, sex, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation or age.
- Breach any of the terms of any of the social media platforms themselves.
- Be off-topic, irrelevant or unintelligible.
- Contain any advertising or promote any services.”
So, if any user of social media breaks some of these rules, he/she would be banned from visiting and commenting on the royal websites and related ones. Furthermore, if the members of the royal family find some comments insulting or threatening, they have the right to report this to the police.
It should be also noted that the administrators of the royal-related websites would probably make some words and expressions banned on their websites in order to prevent threats and false accusations. This does not mean that all the comments were bad or threatening, but this is the measure to prevent those ones that are not positive and constructive.
