The royal family has its official social media, but only a few members have their own accounts. To find out who and why keep reading!
There are three official social media accounts that the family uses. Those are @TheRoyalFamily, for all the working members of the family, then @ClarenceHouse, for the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwell, and @KensingtonRoyal, for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Also, Prince Andrew, Duke of York updates on his work on an account @hrgthedukeofyork. However, only two members of the royal family have personal accounts.
Princess Eugenie has a verified, public Instagram account. She and her sister Beatrice have the right to do so because they technically aren’t “working royals,” which means that they don’t perform official royal duties and they don’t make official appearances on behalf of the family. Despite them attending royal events, they always come as guests, and they both have their careers.
Princess Beatrice works in finance, and Princess Eugenie works as an art director. Since they aren’t on the official royal website, they are free to post whatever they want without it being filtered by the team who is responsible for preserving the royal family image. Princess Eugenie likes to post about her family and charity work, while Princess Beatrice prefers tweeting. Meanwhile, there are some reports about other members having secret accounts, including Queen Elizabeth II, Kate Middleton, and Prince Harry.
