Prince William and Prince Harry were just little boys when their parents got divorced. Princess Diana and Prince Charles ended their relationship in 1992, and in 1996 they officially divorced. In 1997 Princess Diana lost her life after a tragic car crash in Paris.
At the time when his parents started divorcing, Prince William was just 14 years old, but he helped his mom go through the process. In the documentary “Prince William: Royalty In My Family”, the narrator says: “It’s believed that William later advised her to accelerate her divorce proceedings by agreeing to be stripped of her royal title.” Apparently, Prince William said: “You’ll still be mummy.”
Prince William was very fond of his mom. When he was nine years old, he’d book Princess Diana’s favorite restaurant in hopes to get her spirits high. Also, it is reported that Prince William wanted to be a police officer, just so he could protect his mom. But, Harry was the one to get him back to earth by saying “You can’t, you’ve got to be King!” The documentary also claims that Diana “relied on her eldest son for comfort and advice”.
