Former actress turned Duchess Meghan Markle, AKA Duchess of Sussex, have dived right into the Royal family’s charitable work. The newest Royal couple has asked their guests, instead of buying them gifts, to give to one of the seven charities they support. That is a fine and noble idea, but there are some guests who will still get them gifts, and this is the interesting part.
Apparently, the royal family has a strict gift policy, which is sort of expected, with the Queen being the head of state for some 16 countries, even nominally. Most of the gifts received by any member of the Windsor family, including wedding ones, must undergo a certain protocol. To give you an idea just how many gifts they receive daily when Prince William was born, there were 4,200 gifts. Not a good day to be a postman.
Megan is known to be a thoughtful gift giver. She even gave some advice on a blog she used to own hot to go about selecting the right gift. The great example of this is the gift she gave to her sister-in-law, Kate Middleton. Although these two come from vastly different backgrounds, they do have plenty in common to become friends. Kate even helped Megan accustom to royal life, so she spent a lot of time thinking about an appropriate gift. In the end, she settled for a custom Zofia Day Company piece, Kensington bracelet, which retails for about $450.
Megan is also great at accepting gifts. For her 33rd birthday, she asked her fans just one thing – to be kind to themselves. She elaborated how her life during her 20s, struggling to remain hip in Hollywood was brutal and how often she doubted and judged herself. As far as birthday wishes go, this one is hard to beat.
