The recent news how Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip aren’t living together at the Buckingham Palace has left everyone wondering what is the reason behind this?
The reason
They have been married for over 70 years now. The reason why they aren’t loving together anymore is that of Prince Philip’s desire to have some time on his own. He retired in 2017, when he was 96, after giving 5,496 speeches and appearing on 22,219 royal engagements on his own. When he retired, he wanted to stay out of the public eye, so he moved to Wood Farm Cottage located in Norfolk on the Sandringham estate. But the queen isn’t retired yet.
She is still performing her royal duties, and that is the reason she stayed at Buckingham Palace. “It is away from the public eye and it’s so peaceful and such a beautiful location,” a royal source shared with The Daily Beast, continuing that “[Philip] also spends time at Windsor Castle and goes to Buckingham Palace on the odd occasion, like for Remembrance Day.” The queen doesn’t seem like she is willing to retire until the day she dies. When she was 21 years old, Elizabeth said, “I declare before you that my whole life whether it be long or short shall be devoted to your service.”
How much time do they spend together
“[Philip] very much enjoys Wood Farm, and he and the queen still see each other at some point in the week or weekends,” an insider shared with the Express. “They see each other depending on Her Majesty’s schedule, but she works around it to see him as much as possible.”
