People tend to have nicknames for the ones they deeply care about. Members of the British royal family must be called by their official title and full name when in public, but when they aren’t in the public eye, they have sweet nicknames for each other. Meghan Markle might be a new member of the royals, but she has a cute nickname that her mother gave her too.
Royal Nicknames
An exception to the rule of calling royals by their title and full name in public is Prince Harry. Royal documents reveal that his real name isn’t Harry, but Henry. So technically, everyone call him by his nickname. He owned a (now deleted) Facebook account under alias Spike Wells, and that is a nickname his friends sometimes use for him. Once he accidentally called his wife, Meghan Markle, „my love“ in public.
„Tillabet“ is the nickname Queen Elizabeth II gave herself, and „Lilibet“ is how her friends and family call her. Prince Charles calls her „Cabbage“. „Darling“ and „bebe“ are the nicknames Prince William and Kate Middleton have for each other, while „Wombat“ was Princess Diana’s nickname for Prince William. Kate Middleton calls her children „poppet“, while nickname for her oldest son, Prince George is „Archie“.
Markle’s Nickname
When they are in private, Price Harry usually calls his wife Meg. Before becoming a member of royal family, Markle was sharing details about herself on a blog called The Tig. The whole site was deleted once it was clear that she was about to become a royal, but her old post from 2016 revealed her nicknames. She wrote: „My nickname is Meg, MM, M&M, and Flower (which my mum has called me since I was little).“
Duchess of Sussex is very close to her mother Doria. Doria will even move in with Markle and Prince Harry once baby arrives. Fans can’t wait for Duchess to give a birth, and see the name royal baby is about to be given.
