This was a very busy year for a royal family. Prince William and Kate Middleton got their third child, Prince Louise, Prince Harry married Meghan Markle in May and they’re expecting their first child, and Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank got married in a beautiful ceremony in October.
We all know these ceremonies require a cake to sweet up the day, but what if they got a life-size cake of themselves.
Baker Lara Mason from the West Midlands made a life- size cake of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. This is not the only cake in which she pays tribute to the royal family, but it definitely was the biggest challenge of all. It took her over 250 hours, 300 eggs and 50kgs fondant to make this replica of the picture the happy couple took on the day when they announced their engagement, with few additions. She also included their baby-to-come in this cake adding dad-bag on Harry and baby book in Meghan’s hands.
This giant six-and-a-half-foot cake is situated in at Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre together with some other sculptures of royal family including Princess Diana with a young Prince William and Prince Harry, Prince George and the Queen’s corgi who passed away. There is also a cake of the Queen in her purple dress.
There is no doubt these cakes are delicious and we can’t wait to see what else will this amazing baker Lara make for us.
